AMA Homolagation Rule

2 posts in this topic

To run a bike in AMA Pro MX races do the Factories have to import a minimum of 600 bikes of that particular model?

Am I right in thinking that they then only have to run the Frame, Engine Cases and Crankshaft from the showroom model?

If so, then it is really amazing how stock Grant Langston's championship YZ450F was. :applause:

The first year of a new model (i.e. '97, '00, '03, '06) is allowed rather wide latitude to have non-production parts, and are often de facto works bikes. After that, they must use the components listed directly from production models. Other restrictions apply, but I'm uncertain as to specifically what those are.
