Carb jets

12 posts in this topic

Hi guys, I"m getting ready to uncork my pig and am gathering all the parts to do so. I just wanted to make sure that I order the right carb jets for when I do dave's mods. I called Sudco this morning and these are the part numbers the gal gave me.

Main jet - N424-27

here's what their catalog shows: http://www.sudco.com/vol33/137.pdf

Pilot jet - N424-25B

http://www.sudco.com/vol33/138.pdf

I have never had my carb apart so I need to know if these are the correct jets. Thanks for helping. :applause:

650R? Those sure dont look like the jets in my carb.

Mine (2006 XR650R) look like the: 99101-357 Order no: 019-151 168

For: Main Jet: http://www.sudco.com/vol33/137.pdf

And: N424-26 Order no: 019-553 68...actually not quite. Thats a 68 and I'm running the 68S most people are using.

For pilot: http://www.sudco.com/vol33/138.pdf

Sorry, I have a 2006 XR650l if that makes any difference.

What sizes are you ordering? I am also getting ready to uncork my L, but don't want to buy the kit. It seems from my searches that a 160 main and 55 pilot with Uni filter, snorkel removed and stock exhaust. Is this close to what you are jetting it at?

Whats your elevation? 158/55 is good starting point at 2-3 k. ft and lower.

Have read about Daves Mods yet?

Have read it and plan on doing it. I will be riding between 80-1500ft mainly. I just received my service manual today and expected it to have a jetting chart.

That manual will prob only tell you whats stock jetting wise. 158/55 is a very popular setting at that ele.

I'm probably going to order 155,158, and 160 mains. 55,58, and60 pilots. My plans are for smog removal, uni filter (already on), open up airbox, Dave's mods, and WB XCR pipe. Most of my riding will be from 0-1500 feet. I just need to know what type of jets to order. :applause:

On the pdf file they say they are for a CV carb, which is the type of carb on the L. Is the pilot the short one though or is that only a problem with the dynojet kit?

you can go to www.jetsrus.com or www.motorcyclecarbs.com to order em. I agree with a 158 main and a 55 pilot as is in the Dave's mods. stuff a rag in your airbox when you drill out the rivetrs holding the intake lid on the tope fo the airbox (otherwise known as the snorkle) that way they shavings etc don't get into the airbox. You will do just fine with following the Dave's mods exactly as shown in thier article. Also remember to remove the smog crap and block it off - I used an IMS kit for that task. Nice aftermarket slip on pipe of your choice and fire it up, you will think you bought an new bike, because it ain't nothing like a stock one.

save buying the 155 and the 60 pilot, you wont need those. Unless you just wanna but to collect some. i use a 160 i think but ima have to swap to 158 for summer time.
