Getting a 426 how to work the decomp lever?

Not exactly sure how to work the decomp lever just used to the ole 2 bangers going to try the 426 any advice?

Push the kick starter against compression and hold the lever in that position with no pressure on it. Pull the compression release and push the crank about one inch farther. Let go the release, reset the kick crank to the top, and kick through smoothly with the throttle closed.

Go to the second sticky at the top of this page. There is a outstanding amount of information there. Near the bottom of that page there is a link to starting a 426. That will get you starting it like a pro. Then read about the decompression cam mod. Do that mod and then you will not need the decompression lever at all.

if you end up not wanting to change the cam which is the best way to do it, you can go on ebay there is an company called pitpossie the sell a nice lever for under 50.00 that has a clutch lever with thumb activated decomp. lever

take that 50bucks and throw in a couple more and you can have a decomp cam from the TT store :busted:
