colored rear sprockets

11 posts in this topic

i am going to need a new rear sprocket on the 2002 yz426f that i bought a few days ago. The bike has red excels so i was thinking i could get a red or black rear sprocket to match. Where can i get one of these at a good price and should i go with a steel or aluminum rear sprocket. Thanks,

I just bought a black Vortex sprocket the other day. It looks sweet with my blue rims. :applause:

I also bought a Regina ORN chain, Grayracer is going to be proud....

ok, so which would be better? aluminum or steel?

Steel lasts longer, but aluminum is lighter (a bunch lighter).

Which is better? Well, pro's use aluminum because of the weight savings, most woods guys use steel because they hold up well. I got the aluminum because it looked good.

Aluminum is available in many colors, steel lasts longer. The fancy steel sprockets (Ironman, etc..) are almost as light as their aluminum counterparts and they wear much longer. I haven't yet seen colored steel sprockets....
