2006 Vs. 2008 Yz450f

30 posts in this topic

Guys! I have to tell you! My buddy bought my 06 450F. It's the one that had the polished frame and the DLC coatings on everything. The thing was a beast. Well I took my 2008 YZ450F out today, totally dialed in with powerbowl and gearing, and Dr.D pipe. I can't believe it. The thing runs so good. It smokes my '06. What's interesting is that I rode my 06 for 2 years and sold it. This is the first time today that I rode my 08. Well my buddy rode my 08 and stalled it out and couldn't get it started. I rode my old 06 down to him and the 06 felt like a tank, not to mention It didn't have anywhere near the power that I remember. All I can say is that I'm so much happier with my 08 it isn't even funny. I can ride my 08 twice as fast. It's amazing what 2 years can do. Even my buddy couldn't believe it. Just thought I would let you guys know. I will have some pictures of todays ride here in a little bit. W3:thumbsup: :banghead:

Something must be wrong with your 06 if the 08 felt that much faster. Yamaha has made the YZ450 a little slower each year since 06. I have ridden my friends 08 YZ450 with a Pro Circuit full exhaust & found his felt slightly weaker than my 06, but I really dig that white color.

I tell you, mine is spot on. It is faster with the powerbowl and the Dr.D pipe(TI). Too close to feel! Break out the stopwatch. The power is electric. Mine hits and I love it, but that is due to the carb mods. Just like a two stroke.:banghead:

I have a '06 YZ450 and have ridden several tracks in NC, but I don't think I've been to the track in your pics. What's the name and location of the track. I looks to be a blast! Thanks.

It's TNT here is the link: A lady by the name of Barbara runs the place. Come on out! She has done a lot with the place over the years.http://www.tntmotorsportsinc.com/

:banghead:

the track is much better than in the videos and they made a bunch of changes to the tracks. They also reversed the direction. They need to update their videos.

Man I was thinking the same thing.I have a '07&'08 and I really cannot feel that much of a diffrence except little softer power and quieter on the '08

Both are GREAT bikes an cannot go wrong IMHO and I am sure the '06 is aswell

My 08 rips on my 06 but the 06 has a hundred hours on it. At first i thought i felt faster on my 06 but the stopwatch doesn't lie. I have noticed a slight drop off in performance<very slight> with my 08. It has about 30 hours on it. It felt best with around 15-20 hours. I let a friend race the 06 last weekend and I'll be damned if he didn't pull a holeshot in the intermediate class with the old girl.:banghead:

THE BOTTOM LINE! They are all great Bikes and I believe that Yamaha is the best. I switched from Honda. There are not many riders that will hold the throttle wide open and ride these things to the max. I'm at TNT all the time and will let you try my 08. I'll have to see you ride first on you're bike first though. My 08 will change your mind! Believe me.

It has been over a year since I have been down to Tnt 5 hour drive for me. Wes there was a kid there that was riding a Honda 450 fast as hell. Him and his trainer and the lady said he was there all the time and basically grew up there. Hes gotta be pro now I rode with him all day and cant remeber his name.

My 08 RED will change a lot of minds as well. :banghead:

That track looks pretty sweet, BTW. Wish I were a little closer as they are that nicely groomed out West.
