XL600r - Throttle Question / Push Cable

I am having a terrible time getting my throttle set correctly.

I was wondering if there is any reason not use the push cable. It seems with just the pull cable my carb opens and shuts fine, in fact better than with the push cable attached.

So am I ok just using the pull cable?

Thanks!

I ran a motarded XR600 on the street with just a pull cable , never was a problem. It is a safety feature , a failsafe in case engine vacume holds the slide against the carb bore.

safety reasons only.

you can get it adjusted CMON we know you can. are you also adjusting adjusters on cables up by throttle to bottom out before trying to adjust at carb?

Thanks for the encouragement. The real problem is that the new push cable is not exactly the same as the old. I ordered a Motion Pro cable and it is just a tad bit longer than OEM, specifically the thread that screws into the throttle. I'm going to try and work it out, but need to pull out the dremel and shorten the cable.

Thanks everyone for the help.

alright brother CAREFUL dont dremel your trigger finger off LOL need that for WOT wheelies
