There are two common 'smokes', a blue smoke that is oil from rings or through valve seals, and black smoke that is soot from being too rich. An exhaust wouldn't affect oil consumption. Usually when you get a less restrictive exhaust it is too lean and needs richer. Mystery. Can you tell what color and under what conditions (when you blip, steady low RPM, etc.).
