Radiator Repair

I'm about to instal my Devol guards but my radiators are already slightly squished, but still very much servicable. Is there any point trying to realign them before I install the guards ? I am planning on using a spacer between the guard and the radiator to compensate for the 'squishedness'. Anybody have any other recommendations or warnings.

I would just use the washers - monkeying and trying to straighten the radiators may make them leak. If it isn't broke, don't fix it!!!
