XR650: gearing to get 180km/h top speed, and 150-160km/h cruise speed

which sprockets need to be installed to get 150-160km/h cruise speed without hard engine pressure and oil "eating" ?

I'm assuming you have an xr650r....... You want to cruise around @ 150-160km/h?!?!?!

I run 15X45 gearing and @ 150-160km/h the motor is getting pretty taxed (in the 7000+ rpm range)

I'm sure some sumo dudes will chime in and help you out...i think some of those guys are running as high as 15X40 or 15X38

My 650L will hit 95mph with it's 14/48 gearing. The 650R, with its superior power should be able to hit 120mph np, with correct gearing.

15/45 maybe or 15/44 Why do you need to "cruise" at 160 and top out at 180? 114 MPH is kinda ridiculious for a 650R

and will i get 150-160km/h comfort speed at 15x40 without motor getting taxed?

15 X 38 to 42 depending on state of tune.Check oil level often with those speeds otherwise.....:banghead::busted:

150~160km/h (92~100mph) and keeping the bike in the peak power 6,000~6,200 rpm range with a free flowing exhaust would need 15/40 and that will turn 100mph at 6,000rpm Rev limiter hits at 8,200. Max torque starts at 5,200rpm. With gearing somewhere in this range will get you the most power to the rear wheel for speed range of 150~160km/h (92~100mph) with the lowest engine rpm and the most power. At 120km/h (75mph) with stock 14/48 gearing you are turning 6,000rpm. This is all for a 120/100 18" rear wheel setup. Would be different for a 17" sumo setup.
