the only thing keeping any of these bikes from our "best ever" list is $$$$. if you have $, someone makes what you want, and you will like it. the more modern the bikes, the better the starting point. how are you going to fix the "mild steel" frame on a XL600R ???? lotsa $$$$ start with a XR650L, and swap both suspensions, go big bore, better cam, uncork it, get better brakes... the list can go on and on. and then you can go SUMO for more $$$$ sucking fun..... notice a pattern here ???? EDIT: wow, I must be in a bad mood. sorry.
