I need help guys xr650l? xl600?

the only thing keeping any of these bikes from our "best ever" list is $$$$.

if you have $, someone makes what you want, and you will like it.

the more modern the bikes, the better the starting point.

how are you going to fix the "mild steel" frame on a XL600R ???? lotsa $$$$

start with a XR650L, and swap both suspensions, go big bore, better cam, uncork it, get better brakes... the list can go on and on.

and then you can go SUMO for more $$$$ sucking fun.....

notice a pattern here ????

EDIT: wow, I must be in a bad mood. sorry. :banghead:

Maybe so, but you're right! :banghead:

The XRL is still being made today, parts and accessories are very available, and a look around here will show what can be done with them.

Most guys seem happy with Dave's mod to the carb and intake (pretty much mandatory), and maybe a different pipe to make it breathe better. If that's not enough, there are lots of things you can do to go faster. All you need is $$!

i feel the better suspension on the 650l would make up for the less power compared to the 600's poor old suspension with its power. I have a 04 650l and have been reading on what to do to get more power out of it the cheap or expensive way.

deck the head to gain a touch of compression or higher compression piston

stage 1 cam

either do daves mod or get a xr650r carb (or aftermarket pumper)

lighten some weight off the pig (turntech 5ah battery, save about 4 lbs)

lighten the flywheel

bottom line by the time you make the 600 do what you want it to, you could have spent the same amount of money on the 650l and have 3 times the bike.
