Just switched from WR to 08'YZ450 for off road

2 posts in this topic

Just thought I would chime in after my first day on the new bike. I have ridden and raced a 06' WR450 off-road for almost 2 years (B rider) and couldn't be happier with the YZF. Yes, I have to kick start the bike, and first gear is a little tall, but the bike is 30 lbs lighter and feels incredible. And oh, it is fast. I put a heavy flywheel on the bike, and have not revalved the suspension yet, but was really impressed with the stock suspension. And, YZ's come with the twin chamber forks. Nice stuff. The YZ takes some money to set up(bigger tank, 18" wheel , flywheel) but was well worth it for me. Granted, I am comparing a steel frame 06' to an aluminum 08', but the twin chamber forks and the missing 30 lbs was worth it. I cant wait to get it in the desert.

The WR is a great bike, but I am really happy that i made the change to the YZF.

Congratulations on the new bike.:banghead::D If it weren't for the stupid red/green sticker regulations we have in California:cry: :D I'd also have a yz450f. I'd add a skid plate , hand guards, wr kickstand, and a spark arrestor. That is my dream bike, but since I'm in California a WR450F is the next best thing for me. I love my wr though, I'm quite happy with it.:busted:
