Funny you should say that, I've just built one around a 2007 XR650R! - if I can find a way to host some pictures, then I'll post some up...

I'm entered in the Tuareg Rallye in Morocco next spring (08) on it, then who knows after that!

Basic set-up I have is the Acerbis 6 gal tank and African Queens fairing kit (twin headlight), Boechat e-start kit (the only one that works x), GPR damper kit, Wave oversize discs, fatbars & risers, handguards, low front fender, GPS and dual-sport electrics (for road use) - I'll also be fitting the nav gear and a dedicated bash-plate (with water tank/tool kit) when I get back to the UK in the new year...

If you want to research other bikes, I know Mick Extance from the UK used to use an XR650R, although he's now on a CRF450... Also I believe Simon Pavey used an XR650R on a couple of Dakars, before he went to BMW/Touratech...

The one used by Johnny Campebell in 2001 was a stock XR as sold in Italy (it was an italian team) with Acerbis tanks (front and rear), a stabilizer , different pipes and other small modifications.

I really enjoy the style of these Dakar bikes.

Does anybody know of any good U.S. distributors for Rallye Fairings?
