baja designs tail light broke again

Does baja designs hand out a card and stamp it for every time you get a LED dual sport tail light and the six one is free. This is the second one I have had on my bike in two months and it broke. Got fed up took a dremel to the back of it and let er have it. Soldered the broke wires( two out of three) to the circut board and glued it back together. Are they all that fragile. This happened with no off roading what so ever. hmmmm

I have read a few reports on the forums of the same problem. Most people choose to rip it apart and solder back the faulty components, and fill with glue, with no problems after. It must be dodgy soldering in the assembly process.

I wonder if they just received a "bad batch" of lights? I ride off rode alot, and have not had any of the lights go bad yet. (1yr or so) I am actually surprised I have not had a bulb go out. I was not as worried about the led taillight as I was with the blinker and headlight bulbs. However, my relay went out, and the horn strap broke, but thats about it.

Mine went bad on the first ride- they replaced, no problem.

Just getting thru with its second season and its still working. Way better than that accerbis unit I was useing.

my blinker relay had to be repaired, the horn was crap (weak) the head light mounts are a joke. I put on stock honda straps. The extra(you only get one for the rear)front brake switch has stopped working after a year, and the led tail light fills with dirt and the wiring instructions were impossible.

One would think for 600 bucks things would be of slightly better quality??

There I'm done bitchen for the day..

Lot of vibation going on back there even on the street.L.R. used to sell a rear fender brace(help's to stiffen it up)

I have had the Baja dual sport kit for two years and all is still well. I will admit the rear tail light is weak and does fill with dirt. The plastic headlight mounts tear up quick with a simple dump. Even the headlight is weak for off-road visibility. Like anything, you must customize it to your riding…and crashing tendencies. The investment was worth it to me since I can now legally ride my 2000 650r everywhere.

I've had my kit for 3+ years and it's worked great, nothing has failed or broke yet.

so far so good with my BD taillight.
