Upgrading brakes DRZ400SM

Today I purchased braided lines and DP pads for the SM to improve brake performance.

I'd like to take it a bit further as I still feel the stock brakes still need more improvements so I'm also looking into upgrading the front brake master cylinder with a Brembo 16x18 unit.

What kind of brake upgrades have you made to the SM?

i put a rmz 450 master cylinder on and a braided line its much more positive feeling now not mushy like the stock set up oh and a good quality brake fluid

I went with a Motomaster 310mm Flamed Disc and SS Braided Brake Line

Much better Stoppie power. I meant Stopping!:thumbsup:

I am using a stock caliper, Massive Brake Rotor, Brembo 16x18 Radial Master and braided line. Unbelievable braking.

Awsome! I was concerned the 16x18 Brembo would be too much for the stocker.

I really need to stay away from that Motostrano site. That place is like crack for a moto junkie:crazy:

Must....resist....from buying....more DRZ upgrades:D

I am using the stock master cylinder with an Earls steel braided line. I also purchased the EBC 320mm rotor that came with the Braking caliper relocater and EBC pads. The braking performance is pretty damn good! More braking than needed really, but like I have said before, I can't help myself. The EBC 320 kit also cost less than the Moto Master 310 rotor.

The really cool thing about the caliper relocater bracket is that it is made out of billet aluminum where the stock bracket isn't. I also went as far as to safety wire the caliper mounting bolts, and the front axle. I'm a huge fan of safety wire!

Already has the Joker Handlebar kit (awesome)

Getting Ohlins Rear Shock and some box do-hickey my parts guy says is awesome and adds mad HP.

Nothing is good stock.

Depends on what you are after. I ended up using a 600RR master cylinder on my S as I had one laying around already. Much larger bore size. I found that with a modified DRZ lever I got the feel I was looking for. Using the CBR lever, I had the stopping power I needed, but didn't have the feel I was looking for.
