Light Retrofit

Recommended Posts

I have a 450f that i am looking to put on a light for some night riding in the desert with. I am having a bugger of a time getting details of how.

Can anyone make a recommendation of what I need to do and/or direction on where to get data on retrofitting my bike?

tks in advance!

Ok .. did some more digging around and found that i need a new stator, regulator, and then light. What i can dig up thus far is that there are two types of stators out there that will fit the yz450f.

1) Eline Accessories - http://www.elineaccessories.com/Shop/LightingCoils.asp

2) Electrosports - https://www.electrosport.com/electrosport_dakar_app_list.html#anchor

the question i have, besides the obvious, is how much lite will the electrosport crank out to the eline and is it worth the extra cash?

stator rewind gets you 180 watts max at higer rpms.

you can run some crazy lights with that power.

their light kits kick ass, but i would get a battery powerd LED helmet light set up as well because when your bike shuts down its gets really dark...

kinda scary if you are in the middle of nowhere all alone and the bike wont start.

Look more closely. Under rewinds, Baja Designs lists the YZ450F, then says it puts out 180 watts, then has a note stating, "external stator, stock stator not rewindable." Cute, huh?

The most you can get with a rewind or a custom built stator for the YZ450 (any year) is 50 watts. The only solution if you need more than that is either the external e-line, or swap almost the entire bottom end of a WR450 into your bike.
