08 AfterMarket Header in the way of oil filter!?!? What do I do?

9 posts in this topic

I didn't know the oil filter was obstructed by the lower headers! Im really pissed. It's the new WB ALuminum PRo system. Do you guys normally lossen the header EVERY time you change the oil filter!?

Also, coming off a two stoke I am worried about the header getting dinged. YOu guys had issues with denting your headers?

you will most likely need to remove the header to replace the filter. it may seem like a hassle at first but once you do it 5-6 times it will become routine and second nature to you. as for denting it, if you do crash and ding it (not bend it) you can remove the dent by pluging one end and fill the header with water. then leave it in the freezer over night and you should see the dent starting to disappear or already gone. mine only took one night to pop out on the stock header. you may have to repeat the process 2-3 times before the dent is completely gone. hope this helps. cheers.

It is normal for a "low boy" header to obstruct the oil filter cover. you just have to lossen the header at the cylinder head and pivot it up. not a hard job at all.

I don't know about the WB header, but the DRD low boy on their current systems can be mounted in such a way as to clear the filter simply by inserting a T handle in the top cover screw as a guide to where it should be positioned as you tighten it down.

man, I was worried I made a mistake with cancelling my WB alum pro order, got tired of waiting on it and got the Yoshmura instead. Alls I know is I do not have to remove the header to change my filter. And I could not be happier with the yosh. Hows the performance of the WB?

I have the new 08 White Brothers Aluminum Pro. The part number is 05-772. I wasn't going to buy the WB until I found out they had this08 pipe. I hate sticking a "last year" pipe on a this year bike. Yea but the performance is unbelievable.Going to go ride it today again....

WB typically comes out with a LowBoy header first and then a higher bend later on.......all you have to do is loosen it and pivot up. The low boy on my 06 allows me to use a allen head wrench to remove filter cover without loosening the header...All in all no big deal to loosen a nut and the allen head on the header
