modified kdx vs crf250x

I am thinking about buying a crf250x to replace my kdx 200 with rb carb fmf pipe silancer kx125 forks ect just wondering if any one has had time on both type of bikes thanks.

Normally the kdx200 would have more power but worse suspension. Since yours has kx125 forks, that isn't neccessarily true. If I could have either I would go with yours.

power=kdx

suspenion=kdx/crf since yours has kx125 forks

reliability=kdx

frame=crf

The kdx is up there on 3 of the 4. I would stick with it. Remember how much maintanance you will have to do the the crf just to keep it running right. It will cost you a lot more. Not to mention the purchase price. It is you're choice, all this is what I've learned from this and other sites.:thumbsup:

The 06 cr250x, is a tough bike to contend with, if cammed and modified like its mx racing brother its very competitive, would give power advantage to kdx, although the hook up on the little thumper is incredable, the kdx is good in this department also, handling in tight trail I would give to the kdx, electric start definitly crx, have ridden both although I am kawi biased, I guess it really depends on which you want both are good.

I've ridden both and imho the CRF250X is a better bike in terms of outright performance, but you'd have to be a pro or at least A class rider for it to make you any faster. The KDX is a lot cheaper and easier to maintain and imho more reliable.

This is why Kawasaki needed to make the KX/KDX hybrid.

There is a gap between the KDX and "similar" class bikes like the 250X. Even the KLR is not even close to thee 250x, and Honda can't make enough 250X's.

Why Kawi won't make a KX250x I'll never know. I got my hyrid though but art5 makes me want a newer Hybrid, LOL.

and now finally after many hard hours of design change the little green lizard kx 200 has a nice shiny new clark 3.1 gal tank, Not for the faint of heart gas tank instalation, For Ebeck I did cut down the water port on the head, it can be done but would not recommend this, it gave me added clearance for the tank but I still had to reshape the tank for the modded mounts.

hey ebeck anart5 how hard are these hybrids to do.do they bolt right up or do you have to fab alot of stuff.just wondering seems like a good ride for someone like me who doesnt like the mx hit of my kx250.thanks an sweet bikes you guys have.

I know the 220 is just a bored 200 so either would fit. Just an fwi, if you put a 13 ounce fww on your kx250, it won't have that hard hit anymore.:confused: :confused:

the 220 motor was designed to act like a 4 stroke, the 200 is more 2 stroke like in power. 220 has more torque. and low end.

nah both are about the same, the 200 is a little faster on top, but both do excellent trail work, just add the 200 carb to the 220 and add pipe and silencer then shake real good, its the perfect blend of refreshment, and the post from above is true, retard timing to the 4 degree mark add an 11 or 13 ounce flywheel weight to your 250,and you have a woods bike, there is really alot more that goes into the conversion 200 kx hybrid, but in my humble opinion well worth the effort,

The conversion is pretty simple. Basicly make new motor mounts weld em on, dril the KDX rear motor mout 2mm wider and narrow the swing arm mount a bit. A machine shop can do the cutting and welding for you for aout $300.

doint it is pretty easy. Commiting to do it is the hard part.

Why Kawi won't make a KX250x

With the KLX450 on showroom floors and receiving rave reviews for being an outstanding offroad bike, I'd be willing to bet a 250 version is in the works.

I have ridden ART5 Hybrid..........that would be my poison of choice. But Also have ridden a stock KDX and there isnt no way, just not my taste solid as rock though dont get me wrong. I have a 250x the closest feeling bike I could find to the Hybrid was a Katoom 200xc, but still nothing like the Hybrid. Art doesnt know it yet but he is going to have to build a replica for me....LOL shhhhhh dont tell him........:confused: Brent

Yeah, it is a detuned kx450f with broader power. Just like the crf and wr, except not as detuned as them, the klx is faster stock.

Keep what you've got. I've ridden both...alot and the KDX gets the nod for any woods riding and almost any other situation.

Top end replacement prices are huge on the 250x and about $125 for the KDX.

Stay with what you got and enjoy!
