I just ordered (after talking to several here that helped my decision) an FMF Speed slip-on that requires no jetting. Its a new pipe, Just recently developed. Bob

The stock pipe with the pro moto billet insert and the airbox opened up requires re-jetting jeez. :bonk:

I have no idea what FMF was thinking recommending that a wide open pipe not require re-jetting:crazy:

What elevation? What temps? What other mods?

Start with 48 pj and a 168 main. The stock jets are going to be lean for a pipe like that

i have 07 with fmf powerbomb and q4 silencer i too have done all free mods bought a jd jetting kit and followed instructions to a t just knew something was not right so took bike on dyno rather than jds recommended 148pj and 168 mj i m down to a 145pj and a 160mj and still could go leaner on both dont know if jd kit is aimed at bike with ais on but i ve removed mine bike runs good at min though so i m leavin it for time bein

just my 2 cents

Ive already installed the GYTR ais kit(with jets) and all free mods. When I put on this FMF Speed I hope thats enough. FMF didnt recommend no jetting, several guys here on the forumdid, they didnt change their jetting , and their bikes ran fine. Im hoping for the same results, if not Ill have to deal with jetting.

I have the fmf factory 4 with the 96db insert. I run 48 pj, jd red #4 and 168 mj. Before I put in the 96db insert, I ran a 170 main and it was great.

I get just a little popping at about 2500 feet. But as I climb higher, its perfect. Starts every time, runs like a champ.

Dealing with the jetting is not so bad. it takes 20 mins at most to change your jetting.

I have the Ti Powercore on my 07, changed the jetting and has made a huge difference. Sounds & feels awsome.............

Cliffy,

Can you tell us what jetting you have as I have the same bike/pipe combo.

What part of oz you from?

I have the exact same setup. FMF TI Powercorp slip-on with the AIS removed, grey wire removed and the air box snorkel removed. I installed the JDJetting kit per the instructions. Main 168, pilot 48 and red needle on the 4th clip. I would look at his recommendations when applying them to your riding climate. The bike works great.

Kenshaw720,

Whats the AIS? Do the OZ models have them? Also this is the loudest exhaust ever. I put the96db insert in and it is still loud. I guess its the price you pay for bling...:ride:

The AIS is the Air Induction System (smog pump). It probably is only a US or California contraption (POS).:foul:

nah mate .. not on aussie models.

awesome! one thing less to remove

I bought the JD jetting kit and installed it. What a huge change from stock. The bike was way too lean to begin with.

Hey Gang,

I'm new to the 4 stroke gig as I just got mine last Monday. I've been doing some homework but I'm running out of time. I've got an out of town school to attend and not long after I have a Grand Canyon trip planned:ride:

So far I've got the stock silencer mod done and the air box mod done. I just recieved the AIS kit and before doing the mod I wanted to make sure of a few things.

Jetting: The AIS kit comes with some jets to put in but how do they know the conditions I ride in? Are 4 strokes different in this regard? Do I jut put them in per the instructions and call it good?

My typical riding elevation is from 1200-4000 feet 80-95+ degrees in the summer and 50-80 degrees in the winter. My Canyon trip will put me at about 8000 feet do I need to adjust for this temporary trip?

While I have the carb apart I want to make sure I have everything I need.

As far as I know:

ZipTy fuel screw part FMS01

Anything else?

Thanks!

I put the JDJetting kit in my 07 and it has run great. I have riden from 1300' to 8400' without making any adjustments and have had no problems. I installed the 168 main and 48 pilot with the red needle on the 4th clip. I also installed the Zip-Ty fuel screw but like I said, I have not had to adjust it.

My GYTR AIS removal kit came with a 175 main but I have read that that was a bit rich. I never tried it, I went with JD's recommendations.

I've got my '07 jetted the same way and saw a big drop in mileage from stock. Did you notice that?

Unfortunatley, I never rode my bike stock so I can't answer that. I did put the 3.2 gallon IMS tank on though.

How many miles per gallon are you getting?
