chain question

6 posts in this topic

I know it's been asked, but I can't seem to find the size of chain I will need for my 2000 YZ426F. I know it's 520, but if I want to up the sprocket in the rear a bit (say to a 50t) what length do I need?

How many links does your old chain have? I don't know about the other brand chains, but the DID chains come in 112 and 120 links. With the 120, you take off what you don't need. The 120 link costs a little more.

I can't go off my old chain because I converted the bike to supermoto a few years ago. I'm trying to build up a dirt set-up now to be able to switch back and forth. IIRC stock length is 114 links, but I can't remember stock gearing (high 40's and I believe a 14 CS, but I just can't remember).

Yes, a number of chains come with 120 links.

For my 04' yz450f with stock gearing, I think it uses 114 links (14 teeth up front 48 for the rear)....I think 120 links would be plenty for what you want to do.

Stock gearing on 2000 426 is 14T/49T. I use a 114 link Reginia with stock gearing.

King Air is correct. Just a note to add. I run a 50T rear. a 116 link will work fine with the 50T and you shouldn't ever have to add or remove links.
