scott steering dampner installation

2 posts in this topic

i recently ordered a scotts steering dampner for a wr400 ,2000 model, their web site said that it required only simple tools but now i have received the dampner and now they are saying that i need to take off the triple clamps and have them milled out so the dampner will have adequate clearance. i wanted to use the stock triple clamps and not buy the aftermarket triple clamps and pro-tapers and they said installation was easy. has anyone else had any experience with these? any help is greatly appreciated.

Once you install the unit and turn the handelbars from one extreme to the other you will see where the mounting piece that attaches to the oil spout hits the top triple clamp. Take a metal file and remove a small amount of stock and the problem will be fixed. This is in a non-important structural area so dont worry about it.
