That wood looks like scrap 2x4! What an awesome picture though. Little girl will love that when she is older.

How much weight you think that PMB rack can hold? Looking at getting one with the chainsaw mount.

Last year on my Colorado TAT ride I had a lot of weight in my back pack. Looking at getting a Wolf or similar pack to take the weight off me.

PMB can hold this much... had to reinforce the subframe pretty good though

Modified my 2012 footpeg brackets so I can run my Fastway pegs in the low-boy position.

Built up weld where the peg stops need to be and had a local machine shop match the profile of the stock stops.

If you call Fastway, they will send you an adapter kit to make the pegs fit the 2012. They didn't even charge me for mine. Great company!

What is contained in the 2012 mod kit? I contacted them about 1.5 months ago and they said they will not fit the 2012 in the low boy position.

The kit included a different bolt and a spacer.

I originally ordered the pegs for a 2012 YZ-250 (part # 22-3-003) since that is the frame on the new WR, but there are some differences between the two bikes where peg mounts are concerned. I emailed and sent pictures to Will Huffman at Fastway, and he figured out what was going on and sent me the parts. The packing list said "customer needs longer cam bolts and spacers from kit #22-3-013"

The new parts worked perfectly.

Can you send me a couple of pics of your pegs? I've got to swee how these longer cam bolts would work. By my calculation the head of the bolt would have to be almost 3/4 of an inch long to make contact with the peg mount bracket. Also, there are no peg stops to stop the pegs during upward travel in the low boy position. I had to weld those on as well.

Here are a couple pictures of the Fastway pegs mounted in low-boy position on my 2012 WR-450. I can't remember if this was before or after I added the new longer bolts to get the pegs to align correctly, but you can see that they work fine.

I don't know why in the heck they show that the low-boy position won't work on the WR models??.... I just sent an email to Will at Fastway asking why they don't make a kit like I ended up putting together.

Thanks for the photos. Can definitely see they are in the low-boy position but cannot see the hardware underneath. Did they have you replace the lower peg mount bracket bolt with something larger than the stock torx bolt?

If you could pop a photo from underneath the peg while holding it up that would help a lot.

Nope, lower peg mount bracket bolt is still the stock torx. As you can see there is a spacer and longer cam bolt to allow the peg to stop at the perfect position. Adding additional washers would still allow for tweaking to the orientation of the peg. Prior to the installation of this spacer and longer bolt, on the right side of the bike I could add the maximum number of washers allowed by the length of the bolt, and the peg was still angled too far forward (see last picture). The left side of the bike worked perfect from the get-go.

Thanks Boise.....Pisses me off that the bone heads I talked to didn't get educated on their own product.

Oh well, neither here nor there at this poiint....got my peg mount brackets welded and machined to facilitate the lower position and it has made a huge improvement.

I've run Fastway pegs in the low-boy position on all of my Yamahas and KTMs since 1999 and couldn't imagine riding them any other way (on this bike in particular as it's even a little more cramped due to the YZ250F being used as the starting point). No complaints now!

If you are over 6' I highly recommend getting these pegs into the lowboy position, you'll be amazed at how much more room it gives you in the riders ergos.

ITS FIXED !!! Runs perfect now, getting that bad plug out of there

even solved my low speed stuttering.

Had a blast all day.

      For this summer, I was looking for a project. As a desert/trial, and occasionally single track rider from Southern California, any time of the year works for a build like this.
      I grew up riding two-stroke and after a couple years on four strokes, I want to return to the enduro king. However, KTM and Husky sell their bikes for quite a high price tag.
      So, I have decided I want to take an older two stroke motocross bike i.e. cr250, yz250, etc., and make it the ultimate desert bike for significantly less than a new KTM.
      I am not loyal to one brand, but I have always loved Honda and spent a grand a month ago on all new gear with Honda's name plastered all over it. 
      I know all the mods I want to do the bikes to make them enduro/desert ready: heavy flywheel, 18 inch rear wheel, new exhaust, steering stabilizer, etc.
      What I need help in is I don't know what bikes I can install a wide ratio transmission in. I know yz250 can take a 400 or 426 transmission, but can any other brand?
      I would like to see a cr250 with the gears of a 450x rippin through the desert. I like the steel frame for off road use, and I just need some advice on the best bike for this conversion.

      For sale is my 2007 YZ250F. This bike is very well setup for trails or harescrambles. I am not the original owner, but have service records. This bike has been well maintained and runs great. Starts first or second kick. Engine and transmission rebuilt about 10hrs ago and I just did a valve clearance check and shim. There are over $3000 worth of parts on this bike. I also have a couple boxes of OEM and aftermarket spares that I will sell for extra. Only issues are a leaky left fork seal (I have the OEM fork seal replacement kit and will include with purchase) and the radiators are slightly twisted, but 100% functional.
