What did I do to my WR today? I bought it!

Have been on an XR4 for years and was undecided on an upgrade. The XR needed some serious suspension work to get it right and I knew that it would never be great even with lots of $$$, then an 06 wr450f with 5000kms, in really good condition came up and I picked it up for a good price, so now I will pump some $$$ into it and get it perfect. Will be sad to see the XR go but it had reached the end for me handling wise. I don't need the extra power of the WR but I certainly won't compain!

I will post a pic once I figure out how!

Excellent decision!!

Get some bark busters and a skid plate and head for the hills...you're gonna have fun.

What did I do to my wr? Broke off the bark buster ... And then zip tied it back on

Did an oil change, replaced the air filter with a clean, oiled one, slipped on a new rear tire, adjusted the chain and gave the bike a good detailing.. It's ready for our quarterly man-trip to GA for a week. Gonna be fun!

New bearings - rear wheel, swingarm, linkage, upper and lower shock and threw in some rear brake pads. I need to get this baby out for a ride!

Put new black rims, tires, starter motor, new sprockets, chain and new battery. Having difficulty posting a pic of my bike. Any recommendations is much appreciated.

I bought this 06 WR 450 brand new in 07 and have had nothing but fun on it. over the years I did nothing but the occasional oil and filter change and gas it up and go. If course I put tires on it as needed and cleaned the air filter as well as the basic maintenance. I did do most of the free mods and had an extra wheel with a paddle tire for the dunes . a couple years ago I did a little enduro racing with it and put on a Dr D pipe. Other then that it had been stock, all but the pipe.

At the end of last year I started to have starting issues with the electrical system and thought it was time to either give her an overhaul or get a new bike. A month ago I stripped the bike down to motor and frame. Had the frame powder coated and had the motor checked out for tolerances and specs. I ended up going with a new clutch pack and a tune up. I put new spokes on front and back as wheel as new wheel bearings. Also new Bridgestone’s all the way around. Turns out the yoke on my starter had loosened over the years. It had turned abit making the points not line up. A new battery and the starter alignment did the trick. Next had the front and rear shocks rebuilt by raceteck. Then went on new Bark busters and a new graphics kit( to cover all the gouges and scratches). New sprockets and chain where next. Had a new gripper seat put on and this is he turn out. The only thing left is a 3.5 gallon tank I ordered from acerbis. (for a 500 mile trip I’m working on ) bike2.jpg

I just bought a plated 08' a couple of days ago and got my tag for it today. Rode it a little, mostly felt great, but sputtered a few times like it was running out of gas. Stopped for gas, but it only held 1/2 a gallon. Seemed to clear up as I rode more. I picked up a new sparkplug & figure I'll change it & the oil and check the valve clearance over the weekend. Sure hope that they are within specs because I don't have any shims & there's not a dealer nearby.

This is one badass bike. Coming off a stock DRZ400S. Sunday I'll be testing my buddy's 2011 Husaberg 570 & we'll be riding them all next week up here, in the NC mtns.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Took mine out on my first ride of the year. Went with a group to Moab and road the Dead Cow Tube Loop clockwise this time and also did the Green River Loop. Great ride and the weather was beautiful. I love living within 3 1/2 hours from Moab. This next weekend I am taking the Jeep down

Are you going to put up a video or are you just going to tease us with the jetting kit pics?

Hello all, I'm the proud new owner of a very clean 1986 Yamaha TT350S. I've been going through the bike making sure everything is working. I cleaned the two carbs and made sure there was enough oil. It rides great and I'm excited to get it on the road soon!
I have been having some issues with the lighting. The headlight bulb was blown out so I found another one on eBay. The taillight doesn't work and I've spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out how to get it to work (seems simple but I can't get it to work!!). I replaced the bulb with a new 1157 12v bulb that I got at Oreillys. The bulb fits the assembly but doesn't work. I measured a couple volts off the blue and yellow wires that lead to the light. The ground seems good. Not sure how to check the switch next to the rear brake but it looked good inside to me. I'm at my wits end here with this, what should be, simple fix. Any tips or help would be much appreciated!

I have a 1995 yz125 2t and the thing runs pretty good, well at least it seems to have no issues but it does not need the choke to start the bike. I changed the main, idle, and needle jets all to factory specs for my temperature and altitude. The bike will start first kick when 100% cold and will start first kick when warm but it just does not need the choke. So I'm wondering if I'm hindering my bikes performance in a way because it does not need the choke. Suggestions?

      Hey guys,
So I recently just went through the bike and replaced the exhaust cam on my 2002 yz250f with an autodecompression cam out of a 2004 model.  I then shimmed the valves, cleaned the carb, and replaced the spark plug.  Now it won't start regardless of whether or not I try to kick it or bump it.  It seems like as I keep kicking it it goes through periods of extremely high compression where it is very hard to kick and then periods of low compression where it is a little easier to kick.  Either way I can't get the bike to start.  Any ideas?

Used PRO TAPER platform 2.3 pegs with standard height inserts. These are removed from a 2011 YZ 125 but should fit all current era YZ and YZF's. Double check before purchasing. I just sharpened the teeth up a bit with a file. These retail for $190 and most online retailers have for $170. You can buy replacement inserts that are higher or lower if desired.
      Taken from Pro Taper's site:
The 2.3 Platform Pegs feature a unique replaceable cleat design for unrivaled customizability. All necessary mounting hardware is included, as well as the standard magnesium-colored cleats. Replacement cleats incorporate ProTaper’s exclusive Traction Arc Design and are available in various heights, colors, and materials to directly suit each rider’s needs.

Hello everyone, been looking around on here for a couple weeks and figured I'd finally drop my question for some feedback. Looking for a bike, obviously or I'd be on a different forum, somewhere in the 250/300 range. Heres some info about me and the typical riding I'll be doing..
My specs: Male, 190 lbs, 5'10, 28 years old.
Riding Experience: Two wheel mostly street, R6, R1, Harley etc. I've ridden most of em. Off road has been mostly quad, except one trip down the trails on a Yamaha 450 2t (holy moses that was quick). Ridden quads for a few years, Polaris 850, Yamaha/Honda 250's (banshee style) at Silver Lake and on trails. Trails we ride are in Grayling which are a mix of hard pack and loose sand (tank trails).
Planned Riding: the above mentioned sand dunes and trails. Doubt I'll ever touch an actual Mx track. Will use a paddle tire when in the dunes. In my mind I've narrowed it down to the KTM 250/300 XCW or Yamaha YZ250X. Not really a Honda fan.
Not trying to open another KTM vs Yamaha thread, Ive read plenty of those. Just looking for some feedback and ensure these are the bikes I should be interested in and if 2 stroke should be my route? I like the easy maintenance but also like the idea of fuel injected 4t. I don't want to be beating the heck out of a 4t in the dunes and turn it into a bigger $ pit than these toys are already. I would prefer having a headlight, 250X does not come with one while both KTM's do (unless I go Yamaha 4t with the WR250f). Thanks for your feedback..
