"L" plug wire resistor?????

6 posts in this topic

If you look where the spark plug snaps into the metal connector inside the plug boot, it looks like a brass flathead screw.

Remove that (it is a screw-in item) and there is a resistor and a spring under it.

The resistor is to reduce AM-radio noise, and while removing will not increase performance, sometimes the resistor does go bad. Its pretty rare, but it does happen.

For the life of me I can't figure out why they'd be concerned with AM radio noise considering there's no radio. Would it actually interfere with other cars radio reception?
