Clarke Tank Pictures?

Has anyone out there got any pictures of a Clarke tank installed on their bike?

I need something to make a comparison to the Ty Davis tank pictures Clark Mason posted.

The wife finally gave the go ahead to order a tank and seat before I come home from Iceland. Now I have to choose ASAP!!

Help me out here folks...the picture on the Clarke website is pathetic. Its a very dark pic and appears to be a WR style tank with a WR style seat (read:steep rise in front).

From what I see, there is NO COMPARISON to the Ty Davis tank. It is in a league of it's own.

I would agree with Kevin. I finally got to see a Ty tank up close, the guy was pitted right next to me. So I sat on my 426 with an IMS and then sat on his with the Davis… WOW!! Big difference, and I don’t think Clarke is appreciably narrower, if at all, than my IMS. Wish I had that Ty tank, it may be even lower and skinnier than the stock YZ tank!

It does carry its load very low, obscuring the head, carb and parts of the cylinder. But whatever works for Ty Davis on his Yammy is, I’m sure, good enough for the rest of us mortals.

The only caveat would be manufacturing quality. These tanks are probably made using Rotational Molding, which is relatively low tech, but Clarke has been making tanks for different bikes for several years (I imagine) but we don’t know who is making the Ty tank. But all the other stuff he sells or comes up with (TM chain guide, bar mounted hot start etc.) is top notch.

All things considered I’d rather have the Ty Davis tank.

I know most of you have seen these pictures before, but hey I love my bike man! And I love to show it off!

And I would do anything for it. I think Im gonna cry.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback.

Hick...how did the tank look? Not that Im a poser or anything, but is it kind of homely?

Seems a shame to cover that beautiful motor up, but it may be worth it for the lower center of gravity.

Does it look like it will impede air flow to the radiators much?

Hey Darin...beautiful scoot! Reminds me of the good old days watchin Hannah racing supercross!!

P.S., Sorry for so many questions, but Im cautious...this will be my only chance at buying a tank, gotta get it right the first time!!

The tank looked very well made. It was scratched up a bit, the guy had no graphics on it and the blue plastic shows scratches more readily. Just typical of riding in the Mesquite. But it is very distinctive looking relative to the Clarke and IMS which look kinda similar, IMO, except Clarke looks maybe a tad narrower and a bit lower.

Davis tank looks like someone just added as much area below a stock YZ tank as they could. I didn’t think to ask the guy how it mounted etc. but he volunteered how great it was to ride with (he used to have an Acerbis ) and how happy he was. I saw two other guys that day with the Davis tank, so out of probably ten or 15 YZ/WRs at least three had the Ty tank. Maybe they were all buddies…

So, as far as looks go, way less homely than IMS/Clarke/Acerbis IMO.

Your bike looks great! At the same race I saw the Davis tank I saw a YZF w/ yellow treatment but he had a yellow dez tank too (not a Ty Davis one though). My bike is all white except frame, seat and graphics and “natural” IMS. Does anybody know if Ty tank comes in white and/or yellow?

get the clear one everytime lads. i bought the clarke tank which i love but i'll say one thing-& i dont think it's been mentioned-you can race this thing down to the fumes when you know exactly how much you need.

i used to race full down to half, now i race 1/3 down to empty. i must be carrying 1 1/2 Imp gallons less that equals 12lb's & it's all carried below what was the bottom of the original tank!!!

i read that as from 2001 all KTM tanks are clear.
