Need your opinion on the price of a WR426

6 posts in this topic

Ok fellas...

My roomate is looking at a 2001 WR426 that has new plastics and literally looks like it just came off the showroom. He has the guy down to $2300. We haven't gone to look at it yet, just seen the pics the guy sent us. I think it's a good deal, seeing how I got my 2001 XR400 for $2300, and it needed an odometer and front number plate.

Assuming it rides ok and the engine is in good shape, what do you guys think?

Deal or No Deal?

For me, it wouldn't be about the money, it would be about the improvements (auto-decompression for one) the '03 450 has over the '01 426 - for not much more $$, if any.

Thats a fair price, I just bought an 02 with 800 miles on it. It was a 1 owner and a left over model new in 04, in similar condition to what you described. I paid $2300.00 , Mine still had original, graphics, front tire, chain, sprockets. The guy bought a new 450 , for the e start.

Well, my roomie brought it back -- the thing is in great shape. I don't get the big deal about the decompression. If you know what to do , it's not hard. I used to kick his yz400f for him when he first got it, and this wr426 kicks the same way. I think he got a great deal, this bike is in top shape. Thanks for the info guys
