Well I am calling Yamaha tomorrow. They need to get up off the stick. We need a Federal E.P.A. certification on the wr450 valid for all 50 States or change the title so it does not read (offroad use)this is the only thing holding this bike up is a word on the title paperwork. So Maybe a few of you guys who are interested in having a wr450 plated might want to call as well. I called a little while ago but only spoke with the front desk. She took my number and told me to call tomorrow and talk to a product specialist. If anybody wants to call their number is 1-800-962-7926 . I am going to let them now that if they cannot give us what we want we will be shopping with another company. ( KTM, HUSKY, SUZUKI, HONDA,) am am so pissed right now:mad:

On a related subject, who here has been able to get a bike tagged legally right out of the dealer showroom? I'm about ready to drive or fly across the country to get a new WR450 with a tag from a legitimate motorcycle dealer. If it's legally tagged and titled there's no problem in Florida transferring it in to get a FL plate.

Arizona is almost to easy. All you need is a mirror, horn and DOT tires. Or in my case a not so bright DMV agent. Told her mine was previously registered and all she asked was about the mirror and horn, and didn't care to see the bike. Pretty simple i guess.

I'm in Arizona and when I asked about getting a plate for it the lady said it needed to be emissions tested (this is normal for all bikes in my county). I'll have it tested in a few weeks and try to get it plated. From the sounds of it there wont be any issues for me.

My title however, does NOT say off road on it anywhere. 2000 WR400.

plated my 06450 right out of the showroom, Arizona requires emissions on bikes older than 6 years old. if newer, no emissions, and you have to sign a waiver saying you added all required stuff for the street including blinker/horn/mirror/headlight with high/low.

so if your WR is newer than on 02 in arizona, no emissions either.

Just had to do emissions on my 01XR650R, its an idle only test and is 19 bucks.

I called dmv in nj they told me once the mso says for off road use only that it cant be changed so for that reason I bought a used wr 426 2002 for $3600.00 with baja kit taged and plated in nj paid a lot extra but it is better then rideing my xt350 by far.?

I have 02 WR426, and like i stated, either she liked me and my presence, or she wasn't all there. I tend to lean towards not all there. I was in DMV for a total of 15 minutes left with plate and new registration. I spent more time with my insurance gal getting it insured. Godd luck to all of you hope everyone gets them plated.?

P.S. you also have to take in account that im in a domicile area as well.

Why call Yamaha? don't you think they have a room full of marketing geeks that look at the plated situation every year and decide that they are NOT going to do it. You know why, because we are still buying the bikes (I did)

Instead of wasting you time with Yamaha, place a well needed call to the local KTM or Husky dealership. That's the quickest and easiest way to get a factory plated dirt bike (er... dual sport)

Everything in the specs is "YZ-inspired." If I wanted a YZ for off-roading, I'd buy one.

What I'd really like to see is a "WR-inspired", street legal, WR450.

I just bought mine from Apache Yamaha in Phoenix, AZ. Worked with Ronnie, his number is 602-973-5111 and he is off on Tuesdays. He understood what I was trying to do. You will need an address in AZ (not a PO Box). The shop will give you the MSO and bill of sale. You need insurance in AZ also, I got mine through Geico. You can go to the DMV or send someone with a Power of Attourney to do it for you (as I did). They will ask if the bike is street legal, say yes. You will be given Tag, Reg and title.

I shipped mine through JC Motors http://www.motorcycleshippers.com/ cost under $700 and has $7000 of insurrance incase any thing happens to it.

My WR450 came two days ago. Road it too work this morning, hit some trails on the way back home. ?

Now I will transfer the title to FL but may wait for a while and drive it with the cool a$$ AZ plate!

I did get the Baja Tail lite and tag mount kit. Got a horn and mirror, but the DMV didn't ask to see any of that stuff, they just asked if the bike was street legal. My buddy did the purchase for me with a Power of Attournney. When asked if it was street legal he said yes, 2 minutes later he was walking out of the DMV talking to me about it. They gave him my tag, reg and title.

I don't think you need to make it street legal, but I wanted to make sure so my buddy didn't have to go twice. He also let me use his address.

With shipping, legalizing, registration and "free mods" I have $8400 into it. I ordered Yosh slip on pipe but it wasn't right and TT is replacing it with a full system, total $500. So for $9K I am riding my '07 WR450 on the street here in sunny south Florida (AKA Hell). There was a Sheriff Behind me today while cruising around. He didn't even pay attention, saw the AZ plate I guess. I am riding the MX tires, they are already ruined and I plan to get some enduro tires next week when my Local Bike Shop's tire guy is back from vacation.

Maybe you should buy this one from me and I will ordered another one ?

I live in WA state and it's as hard here as anywhere to get a WR plated but one comment I would like to make about AZ....

I was in Havasu a while back and you can drive ANYTHING on the road there, I saw not only dirtbikes with plates but ATV's and pimped out golf carts with plates

Perhaps I should start a "Get your tag & title in AZ" gig and charge a small fee.

And yes- you can drive just about anything on the street here with a little leg work.

Being in AZ it might be a good gig for you. I don't know how many times I could ask a favor of my buddy out there.
