What brand of skid plates/engine guard do you have?

Just trying to figure out what brand to get for the 07 WR. If you could post pics, that would be really nice.

So far I've looked into Utah skid plates...well priced, look tough,

thanks

Marty

I don't have pics, but I just recently got a Utah for my '06 WR. It's very well built and fits very well, covering the frame and engine. My only issue during installation was that a couple of the screws were a little too short to fit with the lock washers and stuff - that was easily solved by a trip to Lowes, though.

I think that the Utah plates are also sold under the Moose and Ricochet names as well.

thanks WR Dave. I wasn't aware of the Flatland engine guards. The look kind trick too:thumbsup: I also like Devol guards. I really like the fact that the mounting bolts on Devol are recessed for more protection.

Any of the skidplates mentioned are better than the plastic "shovel" WR Dave.

I have had both Moose and Devol. Moose is thicker and tougher. Drove a rock right through the Devol. So far the Moose has been superb.

Look no further. Buy one. Done.

Works connection - a perfect fit.

With recessed bolt holes and comes with 1" of foam padding to minimise any shock transmission.

Also using WC radiator braces which are very nice too and again, a great fit.

Ditto foxomatica, i had the Devol on my bike as well, looks great, and my first thought was, damn this thing will tread water like a ski, didn't think about the big ass rock it hit and bent the thing to hell and broke a weld. So looking at getting the bigger and beefier Moose i'll take the wieght for the protection all day.

07 WR450, picked up this skid plate at the tt store for $79...

Thats a good deal

I got the GYTR, it works but I am not overly impressed with the range of protection for the side covers and frame near the foot pegs:thumbsdn:

Try these mods that I made to my skid plate Don. I ground the leading edges down to a taper and it rides over logs and rocks with no problems. WR Dave.

I used 1/4 by 20 tapered head allen screws from a local bolt supply store, Home depot here has them as well. I drilled and tapped the skid plate and counter sunk the holes in my extension pieces, used lock-tite on the threads and used a grinder to knock off the small bit of the threads sticking through the other side. I also put some neoprene weatherstripping on the bottom of the frame rails so there is no metal to metal grinding going on. Using the 1/4 inch screws allows me to go up to the 5/16 inch screws if I have any problems. The skid plate was $82.00 USD. WR Dave

NICE

Utah all the way!

I run Devol, but should have ran the TT version. Not as pretty but a helluva lot thicker and stronger. If you want slats get the torch or grinder out.

Just ended up ordering the Flatlander. I was gonna get the Devol but they didn't have a lising for the 07. I emailed them for the part# but they didn't get back to me in time.
