WTF - Oil smells like gas...

Drained the oil today because it was in need of an oil change and it smelled like gas :)

so... &%$#@! is going on with that? Am I going to need to open up my engine and see whats going on in the cylinder? Could this be why its so hard to start all of a sudden? I already have a new wiseco sitting on the shelf for the pig, so I'm not too worried about that.

I would guess at poor ring sealing.

Or when its sitting maybe a bad carb needle seal allowing seapage.

Do you leave the fuel petcock in the on position when it's parked? A worn needle and seat will fill the engine with fuel. If so try shutting the fuel petcock off after riding and see if it starts normal, must turn it back on before restarting thou.

This is most likely your problem, check out the float needle/seat assembly for wear/crap stuck in the needle seat.

I didn't think about that last night since it was 10 when I was doing this, but that is probably the cause of it. I hope. Thanks for the info.

Don't try to start the engine with ANY gas in the crankcase, I have seen the aftermath of a crankcase explosion, it's ugly.
