So I just got back from a pretty good outing in Gorman (green sticker only season started May 1st). Since I wanted a green sticker bike this is what I did: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=398433 Anyway, a ranger comes knocking on my door and asks "who's Suzuki is this?" and I calmly reply "the YAMAHA is mine". He proceeds to ask what year it is and I say '02 and explain all the stuff I have done to it. I also point out the oil filler cap and remind him he won't see that on a newer bike. He goes to check the VIN and can't find it! Idiot me never checked the frame after the powder coating and didn't realize they coated right over it! Even though I have the registration and green sticker he tells me that is is a misdemeaner if he can't identify the bike/VIN and that means he could impound my bike Luckily he believed me (after running the vin on the registration, who knows why if he can't verify that is belongs to that bike) and decided not to take my bike. He said the VIN should be on the right side of the steering head and my manual says the same thing. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the powder coating without grinding away the vin at the same time?
