reliability

I was just stating the parts that could not be replaced by the aftermarket. I was thinking the tranny, engine cases, and air box, and frame were about it. That was my point. If you were racing hard a top end would be in order at 100 hours at the latest. If you ride fairly easy, may be a tall gear instead of revving than i can see a couple hundred hours. I tend to replace more often just for peace of mind. 2% leak down is good but that only tells you the condition of the rings and valves, not potential piston skirt wear.

Peace of mind is worth something, all right. And I'm not as tough on things as some guys are, but I certainly don't just tool around in the woods taking in the scenery. When I see wildlife, it usually because I almost hit it.

And it is, of course, true that you can't measure piston wear without seeing it, but I've seen enough to be able to have a good idea of what's going on, and what it will look like, based on the performance and general condition of everything else.

And 200 hours was a while ago, too.

I'm sure you know what you're doing and I never meant to imply that you were slow. I like the wildlife comment, I've been there. I've read your posts and I know you're very knowledgable. I look forward to future conversations, and again I hope i did'nt come across as disrespectful.

You can't have a discussion if you skin's too thin. Besides, I'm a Republican. People say worse things than that about me all teh time.
