I'm losing gas out of my vent hose

2 posts in this topic

I just washed my bike and noticed gas had spilled from my vent hose to the rear of my front fender. Anyone know what's the fix?? I've heard this can be a problem with thw 07 wr450f

I recently posted regarding boiling gas.

There are several possibilites:

1. Bad gas cap not venting properly, building pressure in the tank eventually spitting gas out onto the fender

2. Overheating bike, or just latent heat actually boiling gas and spitting it out

3. Winter blend fuel additives that have a significantly lower boiling point than the gas itself, boiling out of the gas (MTBE, or ethanol probably)

This last possiblity is very likely what I was experiencing last weekend.
