Raise Forks

5 posts in this topic

07 450 how far can I raise the forks in the triple tree to improve steering?

You can raise them up however much you want. Keep in mind every cause has an effect both positive and negitive. Raising up your forks, steepins the rake angle making for more agressive cornering, BUT it also causes front end headshake at high speeds on straights.... It's all compramise... Try 1/8" incraments until you get your prefered handleing.

Depending on the track you ride, Compression and Rebound have a major effect on how the bike turns as well.

What is the bike actually doing?

On my o6 450f I raised them 10mm's from the line on the fork which is at the top clamp. I noticed at 10mm it was to much caused a lot of head shake and the turning was way to fast so I kept experimenting and found that if you put the line (which is on the forks) where it is even with the the top clamp and then come up another 6 or 7mm's you will be happy with the way it handles at this setting.:applause:

I've got my 04' on the second line which I believe is the 10mm mark. Turns quite a bit better than the 5mm mark, and no headshake.
