Will these LED lights work with the XR650R's power system or do you need a battery to provide DC? What about turn signals?

Some will work with AC. Look for it in the description of the taillight. You can go DC without a battery.

Are you trying to go street legal? If so then you may need to go the DC and battery setup. The main purpose for the battery is to keep the tail light on when the engine is not running. It is a requirement for a plate in most US states. Don't know about Canada in this respect. The battery will also keep the tail light and turnsignals at full brightness when the engine is at an idle.

These wire direct to the existing system on the XR650R

I used the edge 2 ( turn signals not required in Michigan )

It looks like the edge standard you can add signals if required

Can you post some pics of the light installed gringo1450? I like the look of those DRC taillights.
