4-year-old girl killed on ATV

20 posts in this topic

This is about as senseless and stupid as it gets. Seems that three people were riding on an ATV and a 13 yr old boy is the one driving.

Child killed in ATV wreck

Staff reports

BOGATA — A 4-year-old girl was killed Sunday in a four-wheeler accident near Bogata, Texas Department of Public Safety reports confirm.

Gracie Raeann Williams of Bogata, a passenger on the Pola Hawkeye all-terrain vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report filed by trooper Matthew Kuhlengel of Clarksville.

A 13-year-old Deport boy, who was driving the vehicle, and Heather Williams, 29, of Bogata were transported to Titus County Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant in stable condition with lacerations, according a TDPS official in Texarkana.

The vehicle was northbound on County Road 1427, five miles north of Bogata, when it entered a sharp curve at a “speed too fast to stay on the roadway,” according to reports. It hit a barbed wire fence on the east side of the roadway, the official said.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Wood Funeral Homes in Bogata.

That is always sad to hear things like this. At least the passengers will heal on the outside but a long road ahead for the inner soils. God speed to the little one and our thoughts are with the family. High center of gravity, high speed, sharp corner, not a good combo at all. What is it going to take to make people realize that.

All three were on the quad??? I'd hope the adult (29 year old) would've known better. Either way it's a sad ending :bonk: RIP baby girl

In Bogata, anything goes. They dont have laws like the country we live in.

That's what I thought, but it keeps saying TEXAS in there. Plus Texarkana.

Last time I looked, still part of the USA.

Sad, but clearly the rules weren't being followed. Amazing how hard a simple thing is for some folks. :naughty::bonk:

13 yo's aren't legally supposed to operate big displacement 4 wheelers.

You aren't supposed to have more than one person on the 4 wheeler at a time.

I've seen some realy idiocy here in Alaska. I work as a flight paramedic. Alot of folks use them as basic transportation in the Bush.

I have seen 5-6 people on a single 4 wheeler, no helmets , doing 35-40 mph on a gravel road.

I've transported dozens of injuries from incidents like the above situation.

Add some alcohol, and they become a body donor combo.:D

Pola Hawkeye all-terrain vehicle

I would think that this is like a ranger or something? Not a 4x4 quad? If it is they are very top heavy and will turn over in a strong wind let alone a sharp corner at speed. Education is the key word for the most part and common sense.

Terrible, terrible story.

The mother should be charged with 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of vehicular manslaughter among the many traffic violations she deserves.

Godspeed little girl.

I'm going to agree that this is an ignorate thing to say! A 4-yr old has no conception of what is right or wrong. It is up to the adults to dictate it for them.

If Darwinism were in play during this accident, it would have dropped a large anvil on the parent when she let the kid get on a quad with 2 others.

i need to correct myself, i think the model was POLARIS hawkeye, i hadnt heard of that one but should have known since polaris usually uses cheesy names for their ATVs, sleds.

As my daddy used to say "apples don't fall far from the tree"

Incase that needs to be explained. Children learn from their parents.

Born an raised in East Texas where this happened and I see this crap all the time. Even at cross country races I see people hauling butt all over without helmets and 5 and 6 people piled on a ATV.

The poor kid driving probably wasn't taught better is all.
