Electrical failure

2 posts in this topic

Starter clutch retaining screws have sheared off, and damaged the stator windings.

When this happens, does it fry the reg/rectifier or spark plug cap coil unit ?

As cannot get a spark at the plug, after replacing stator !

First you may want to try a new plug I have seen carbon short the insulator before. If that no fix then---Possibly an incorrectly wound stator??? Look in your manual on and take an electrical reading(resistance) of the stator--yamaha calls the stator an "AC magneto". Also check the pick-up coil resistance and the ignition coil resistance. Let us know what the fix is.
