bottom end bog on 06 YZF450

I just purchased an 06 YZF450 with a Dr. D pipe and it has a bog off the bottom when you crack the throttle. Dr. D recommends going to a 45 pilot and a richer needle (5TA194916LR00) with the needle in 4th position.

Before I go buying a bunch of jets I was hoping someone whoe recommend what they are using.

the hot setup for the 07 is 170 main and a 48 pilot

45/165 with the stock NFPR in #4

Dr. D full SS system, '06 YZ450, sea level to 3500 feet.

The 06 stock needle NFPR needs to be swapped to a NFLR - DRD recommends this. I did this and it does help. Also go with a 45 or 48 pj

Or send the carb to Zipty - they permanently fix the bog

The NFLR vs. the NFPR (stock needle) is not an enormous issue, even though it may be be just what you need. The two needle profiles are so close to the same that lowering changing from a stock NFPR (clip in 4) to an NFLR (clip in 4) is the same as lowering the needle half of one step.

I surprised you are running so lean. Have you checked your plug recently?

Same bike same pipe 48/170 stock needle and position runs fine. Might be too rich, but this is my first 4 banger so I have a hard time determining if it is too rich or not. I have researched how to tell, but have not gotten a good answer. Not to hijack but how do you tell?

try a boysen quickshot and rejetting mines a weapon now with the new micron exhaust system to, my local yamaha dealer did the jetting to suit the altitude were i live
