The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

1 post in this topic

A bit ago there was some discussion of squealing coming front wheel. I had it also, and now opened it up to find the problem. In my case, the squealing was not from the bearings, they were nicely greased. Rather it was from the bearing seal on the odometer side. This oil seal is much larger than the small one on the other side. In my case this seal had become pretty depleted of lube and had some grime in it. The odo cable itself was well lubed. After getting a little grease on the seal and the actuator inside, and cleaning the part of the hub it rides on, no more squeal!
