Back On 2 Wheels...Woohoo!!!

Unbeknownst to most of you, I've been off the old WR since August due to triple herniated discs and a piriformis in chronic spasm. That's what I get when I go from dirt bikes to jet skis. In that time, I've had to live vicariously through all of you, hearing about how much fun you all were having in the woods, dunes and desert. Anyway, I'm about all healed up and got back on the old steel-framed relic ('05) yesterday for the first time. As I type this up this morning, I realize that I learned three things...

First, I've gotten F-A-T! Holy spare tire Batman! I barely was able to squeeze into my riding pants and there ain't Thor didn't build much give in their product. Talk about 10 pounds of meat in a 5 pound bag.

Second, I'm woefully out of shape. In spite of gaining like 20 pounds during my convalescence, my legs shrank to the size of popsicle sticks. Once I hit the whoops, they were screaming like a dog with his nuts caught in a sliding patio door. I figure a few hundred miles on the bicycle ought to take care of both problems. That, and fewer deep fried mozarella sticks. Is it just me, or do they put heroin in those things?

Third, and most importantly, if you've got a dirt bike, get out and ride the damn thing whenever you can. I've been in a real bad mood for about 3 months now, and after 2 hours in the mud, I'm a changed man. There's something mentally therapeutic about zooming around on 2 wheels, especially off road. After I got back, I didn't feel like beating the wife, selling the kids or setting fire to my house. I was in a state of mud-covered zen, complete with perma-grin. The WR is going to work with me today, so I can give her some much deserved TLC. Now I'm jonesin' to get back out there...Daddy needs his medicine :censored:...SC

Although I've not been convalescening, I have been away from the sport for far too long. I completely understand the jones to ride.:ride:

Yes, there is heroine in cheese sticks. And also Chipotle burritos. I wish they would put that stuff in healthy food, like salad or celery....:lol:

I haven't ridden in two years. I've gained almost 30 lbs. And I wasn't small to begin with.:applause:

Funny that you mention your mood. My wife has been saying that I've been less than a joy to live with for the past two years. I've been trying to think what the cause of that could be, and you may have hit the nail on the head!

I'm hoping that getting back out there on my (unproven, no aftermarket, hard to get to the carb :applause: ) '07 450 will help get me out of this funk I've been in!

I think we could all tell you were in a bit of a mood by the way you chewed into a couple of noobs posting questions without doing a search. :ride: Understandable though, next to a dog (and sometimes wife) a mans bike is his best friend! That’s partly why I plated mine, not to put thousands of highway miles on it frying my trans and eating up my tires, but it allows me more ride time..... even if it’s just down to the local hobby shop or home depot.

Great to here your back in the saddle, SC... I would also be in the saddle, were it not for the 4 FEET of SNOW, and the -37 degree F weather I had this morning at 7:00 AM when I was coming home from Nightshift.... I'm praying for NO SNOW!!!!

Clark, good to see your back in action!

Bikes are highly demanding lovers...you must ride them often (ha..). If not so, you have to pay the toll: tired arms and legs, lots of sweat and maybe some dirt eaten.

Take it easy, I would recommend first some threadmill walking-running, along with some upper body strenghtening routine. This to be done 3 times a week, and you will be fine by spring-summer riding your lover...:censored: }

BTW...sometimes I get an idiotic angry mood, and my wife "suggests" me to take a ride (on my bike, luckily). After a short ride everything fits back in place..and I can enter home again....so I guess this is our cheap therapy!!! (Cheaper than a shrink)
