07 yz250f motor in 04 ?????????

a neighbor and his bud just bought a yz250f and yz450f from kellys. they went riding and both blew up within 10mins of each other :headscrat anyways the guy got his parts list today for the 250 and he needs 2000$+ in parts :censored:

anyways theres an 07 motor on ebay for about the same price as his parts are. will the 07 motor fit in his 04 without lots of mods needed (electrical etc.) ??????????

thanks

You would have to be absolutely nuts to even try doing that. Nothing is gonna match up spot on. For starters the 04 runs oil through the frame and the 07 is the aluminum frame. The motor won't fit, the tank won't fit and just about everything else too. It can be done but that would be tons of time and money

pretty much what i figured. bummer. guess he'll just have to get the parts and ill put it back together for him.

wow a bad day to purchase and ride...........did they not have any oil in both of them?

Sounds like someone sold you a high mileage four stroke that was ready to blow.

That sucks. :censored:

actually the 450 might have a bad oil pump/return line since he said the clutch basket gear was totally dry. he lost his crank on the 450 and dropped a valve on the 250.

its totally possible they where both high milage since they dont know the prev. owner and bought them from a dealer.
