Raising forks 5MM

I need to know where you measure from to get the 5mm. I know you measure from the top of the top clam but to where on the fork do you measure? The reason I ask this is that there is a line on the top of the fork, Is this the 5mm mark or do you measure to the bottom of the fork cap? Thanks for any help!

The 5mm is not the total height...it just refers to raising them 5mm higher than where they are from the factory...which, as it turns out, is right about at the line.

5mm is 5mm. If you measure the distance from the cap to the top of the clamp then move the forks 5mm on way or the other it will be 5mm different. If the line is flush with the clamp now and you move the forks 5mm and remeasure, you will have a 5mm difference.

I am sure you are asking a different question, but this is how I have understood it. Not to be a smart ass, but if you measure then move and measure again, it will be the difference of how much you moved it.

Or what he said^^^^:ride:

The line is the 5mm mark. Don't forget to set your sag to 95-100mm also. That's where mine is set now.It corners good and is still stable. I'm going to experiment with 10mm on the forks and 100mm sag when the weather warms up.

If you rasie the forks, it lowers the bike corect. Whats the advantage to this?

It sharpens the steering angle slightly for quicker turning response, and yes, you are correct.

I'll try it out.

Be carefull...if your front tire rubs your fender hard, you will be experimenting going over the bars

I am not sure at what point your tire hits.....anyone know?

I've heard 10mm from the factory scribed line is about maximum..but maybe someone can confirm.

I'm at the stock scribe mark, and I'm going to try 5mm greater to see the response.

I have set mine to 5mm from factory 10mm. I noticed a difference in the sand as well.
