lowering link for XR650l

4 posts in this topic

Has any tall riders (6'+) installed a lowering link on a XR650L? My thoughts are if the bike was a tad lower, manuverability would be better in those situations where your hung up, off camber and you need to put a foot or two down for leverage.

I measure @ 6'2" and sometimes with the weight of the bike and seat height I find myself in hairy situations that could be bad.

I haven't done this yet but have been going over the benefits of doing it. I'm tall and leggy (210 6'2 w/35" inseam) so handling the bike isn't the issue for me but rather the "handling of" the bike. I backed off the preload to gain sag for more rake, thus high speed stability. I'd prefer to put the correct amount of preload/loaded sag back to regain stability and proper handling in the rear while getting the desired stabiliy up front. I've been thinking about the one from XR's Only. It drops the bike 1.5". I could then adjust the forks to raise or lower the front to fine tune the handling.

i have one on my 06 650L, i installed it when i first got the bike it seemed as high as a horse and my riding confidence was pretty low. it didnt seem to make that much of a difference as far as handling goes, i also raised the forks 3/4" to maintain pretty much the same rake and have about a 1 3/4" lowering overall. im feeling pretty good about my riding lately and will be taking it back out and going back up to stock ride height. so if you want one just pm me....
