Using fat bars on 06 WR450

12 posts in this topic

My 450 has detachable bar clamps and come stock with the 7/8's bars. I want to put the 1-1/8 inch bars on but I can't find the bigger bar clamps. I know they have universal clamps that fit inside the 7/8's clamps but I don't want those. I know yz's have different detachable bar clamps than the wr but I don't know if 07 WR's have the same design (I know 07's have 1-1/8 pro taper bars) as mine. If anyone with an 07 setup want to sell them or trade, let me know. Anyone know where I can get clamps?

If you dont mind using risors, you can get an adapter that raises and/or moves the bars forward and will allow you to use either stock handlebar size or larger ones, i was thinking of doing the same thing as you and looked into this already....

You can go to your YAMAHA dealer and order the bar clamps for the YZ and they will bolt right on to the WR top triple clamp. That's what I did w/ my 06 WR.

Part Numbers:

5XC-23441-90-00 HOLDER, HANDLE UPPER

5XC-23442-90-00 HOLDER, HANDLE LOWER

Order 2 of each.

Exactly what I did, works great.

So I get the clamps for the stock WR Triple Clamp and that gets me a fatter 1 1/8 o.d. bar. I assume then that the new handlebar will taper down and still fit all my stock throttle and kill switch and starter, etc. Which bars are the ones that you have? Thanks, Jason

I didn't even realize they were detachable until just now. How much do the YZ clamps cost?

They're very expensive. Don't remember the exact total, but I decided to go to the rubber mount Applied Racing top tripple clamp.

Yep, I went with Tag Metals bar clamps!

I was at my dealer today and asked about the clamps. For the clamps and bolts, the total would have been around $120. When I change, I'll more than likely be using the big bar adapters.

Are you talking about the entire triple clamp, or will Tag's bar clamps bolt into my stock triple clamp?
