I bought a 2004 WR450F and have loved the bike so far. I recently moved to Mexico and have a supercross track 2 blocks from my house so I´ve started jumping. As I started to go bigger I noticed that I´m bottoming out my suspension pretty easy especially if I misjudge a double. I know that the WR is not designed for jumping and that the suspension is more for sucking up the off road bumps at speed then taking a huge hit on a motocross track. My question is how exactly does the front and rear suspension differ on a WR from a YZ? What I´m trying to figure out is if I should spend the money for a full revalve with stiffer springs on my WR or if I just chose the wrong bike. I weigh 185 and will ride trails more than track which is why I got the WR but I can´t go to the track anymore until I do something about my suspension as it feels like I damaged it and seems way softer then before I started jumping. I know I probably can´t have the best of both worlds with one bike but are the suspensions similar enough that I can find a happy compromise where my WR will perform adequate on the big jumps on a track and still handle well on the trail. If not, I´d like to know why and what are the pros and cons of the YZF over the WR. Thanks!
