valve adjustment 650L

How hard is it to do the adjustment on the valves for a 93 650L?

what are the clearances? Is there a published procedure online somewhere?

Cheers!

.004 INTAKE .005 EXHAUST, just did mine took about 30 minutes, first one at 6000 miles. Just find TDC threw the plug on the left side cover, rotate the engine threw the big plug below the small one. Remove the caps and adjust pretty simple

It's an easy job thanks to those four valve access covers and only one cylinder. One thing that the manual is particular about: being sure to gap the two intake valves (both rear) and the left exhaust valve (front left) first, and then re-check your TDC alignment, then gap the right exhaust valve last. THis is because of the auto-decompression lobe on the cam shaft that acually opens the right exhaust valve a small amount just before TDC. But there are marks on the fly wheel/stator that indicate where this occurs. Just be sure to align to the "T" mark and that the rocker arms have a bit of play and you'l be all set.

Oh yeah, don't forget to remove the spark plug for easy turning.

Hey pigryder quit slackin and tell us how were your valves?:bonk: Did they need adjusted?:p

So to find TDC on this bike you have to remove the flywheel/stator side cover?

Here's what I have.

Remove the plug

Remove stator cover

Set to TDC

adjust 4 thou intake 5 thou exh.

put back together

That's it?>

yep, but you dont have to take off the stator cover just the plug on the side cover
