06 ICS Spring

What number is the stock ICS spring in my 06 450? Anyone try a lighter spring for woods riding?

Stock is 2.2 kg/mm, I haven't tried anything new, although I'm a track guy.

If I am not mistaken the Stock spring is a 2.5 kg/mm.? I just about ride all woods and went with a 2.2 kg/mm spring. My weight is 175 with full gear. It has made a huge difference in the way the bike acts. I love it since I made the change.

I stand corrected. That what happens when I speak when I'm not positive.

So then, what rate ICS spring DID you have installed, where did you get it, and what is it that you like so much about how the bike now behaves?

Of all the suspension tuners I spoke with, no one recommended going stiffer than the stock ICS spring in the KYB's....I thought this to be interesting.....

I am not sure what you accomplish with a less stiff than stock ICS spring....I would just soften it up with the clickers or have it revalved for plushness or as some have mentioned consider subtanks....

I'm not sure I see the point either, but if there's some real info to be had, I'm curious. My understanding of the function of the ICS spring is that it forces the piston that forms the top of the inner chamber down on the oil supply, which helps keep it separated from air. As such, that spring creates a small amount of pressure that tends to keep the cartridge extended, and in so doing, adds to the overall spring rate. So, if that is true, then it would seem that you could accomplish the same thing just by by springing softer.

It is also well known already that the '06 fork is very sensitive to changes in the outer chamber oil volume, with changes as small as 5cc being quite noticeable.

I just told him the rate, I have no idea what changing it would do. :devil:
