exhaust questions - plz read -

The stock exhaust on my 02 yz426 sounds hollow and is very loud. I think it only needs re packed. I i replace the packing would it make the bike soound like todays stock 450's? If not wat exhaust would be quieter and sound close to todays stock motocross bike exhaust? Can anyone help me?

Just re-pack it and you'll be good to go.

repacking the stock exhaust will help with sound. Older exhaust are still louder than newer bikes. They have been working on noise for the last several years. Dr. D, FMF, and the others are developing quieter exhausts now. I've had the best luck with Dr. D, but there are a lot of opionions and studies out there to look at.
