Loctite Those Sproket Bolts! Lucky This Time!

Check them every ride! I was very lucky today! All my bolts came loose during the ride, and I'm sure if I had rode any longer I would have snapped my hub. With all the stories I've read in this forum with hubs breaking on the 06, I check my bolts frequently... but I guess not enough. I suggest you guys take your bolts out and loctite them!

When I went to tighten the bolts up, they all snapped.. one by one with very little torque. Guess they were very close to letting the sprocket go. the bolt holes in my hub are no longer round  I had to run to the local bolt and nut supply to get some substitutes until I can order new ones. Luckily they had high strength bolts that were very close to stock...

Speaking of things coming loose.... My friggin handlebars came loose a few weeks ago. The two 17mm nuts underneath the triple clamps were on their last few threads. I was running a 1hr race, and near the end I could feel clunking in the front end. Damn, I've been lucky twice now! I also put the locktite to those too.

When you install new sprocket bolts you should make the hub holes round again (larger) and go with the correct sized bolts and nuts. The oblong holes will allow the bolts to wallow and give you more problems.

Well, I think its probably better just to change the hub... but since the rim is not true anymore, I might just build a new wheel over the winter.
