xr600, are they hard to start

I've had a few 600Rs from 1986 on and if you find the happy spot for the idle speed and pilot screew setting mine have allways started first kick cold and 1 or 2 kicks hot, as long as you kick it like you really want it to start, hot start on my 86 twin carb could be iffy thou if you gave a half hearted kick.

it is a 1989, it has a huge carb that is deffently not stock, it only has one throtle cable. I do not even know if it it jetted right. The bike will start up and run pretty good if it is push started, but it just doesn't want to start when kicked, it will back fire tho. The bike seems to have some type of a modified head on there with big aluminum fins welded to it, i am no sure if it has a cam or hi-comp piston.

do you have any pictures of the head and carb

no but, the carb is a huge flat slide carb with no ap. and the head looks like the stock head but with big aluminum fins welded to it!

Sounds like an old XRs Only engine with a Mikuni flat slide carb.

any other info on this engine?
