47 posts in this topic

Mikey Childress Pilots his pig (NEAR STOCK) to an overall win at the recent BITD Vegas to Reno (550+ miles) off-road race!

2nd place (trophy truck) was something like 45+ minutes behind!!!!

Just thought you R guys might like to hear that!

His pig was geared to 120mph.

Saw his rear tire after 80 miles...looked like a monster had plucked the center knobs off! I mean they were completely TORN off.

Impossible! The latest Dirt Bike says Honda 's 450X desert racer is just as fast now.... at 100 mph! Perhaps they should have regeared the 650R too?

Dave

That’s funny …. :applause:

There’s a huge difference between what you read in a mag and what happens in “reality.”

That made me laugh though…

Honda pits clocked Mikey’s bike at 118+ during practice

…imagine that!

Damn!

Then he turned around and won the Invaders Desert Scramble on Sunday like it was nothing (although it really wasnt in comparison).

Hengeveld had something to do with the win also, they could of won on a Pantera bought at Pep Boys.

yeah…kinda made it sound one sided huh?

You really think they could’ve taken out those class1 cars on one of these?

Just throw some knobs on it…

I bet you they could take a Rhino or two though

Yeah, I read that too. Seems like they forgot about their own cover story a year or two back on Johnny Campbells 125 mph XR650R?

I guess they have gotten slower recently!

As I recall even the camera men in Dust to Glory were hitting 115...nevermind the works guys! That's some "project bike" 650R Dirt Bike had?

HA!

yeah no kidding.

Sounds to me like a classic case of “lets downplay the R to boost sales on the X.”

But in reality...

...well who cares about that right?

Keep in mind that a 450x got second with Johnny Campbell & Robby Bell riding it. They were down about 20 minutes due to a flat almost at the end. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the 650, but those Honda boys are getting that 450x going pretty quick.

There's no question Honda is going to push the 450X. That's where the $$ is. The 650 is not a big seller for the company. If they can convert some of the 650 guys to the 450X....so much the better. It will help keep market share when the 650 is discontinued.
