XR's Only Exhaust ??

Hi was wondering if anyone has put one of AL Bakers XRsOnly Competition Exhaust Sytems (Full System) on their XR. Did it improve the bike much and is there any need to tweek the jetting to suit the increased air flow, or is it a bolt-on job? Any comments much appreciated!!

i have it on my 650L. Very loud. i have the mikuni 42mm flatslide also, with the pipe - lots more power, noise, and greatly improved throttle response. I like it, but i wish i would have gotten a disk style pipe for tuning purposes and noise. Overall i would rate it high on quality. make sure you get a new gasket for the header to pipe conection, as i could not salvage my old one. Regarding the noise, good for the street - they know i am there (it is quieter than one of those infernal Harleys with pipes) but it is too loud offroad - nature and all that crap.

Does anyone know anything about the current XR's Only exhaust for an XR600R? I was wanting some opinions on what people think of it today, I was also considering the SuperTrapp IDS2 exhaust also. I don't really like the sound of the FMF, Big Gun exhausts quality did not seem to be up to par. Any opinions out there?

I've got an older XRs Comp pipe with supertrapp on my 500. No internal baffles or stuffing = LOUD. Essentially a shorty trapp on the end of a megaphone. With the open end cap, funny car loud. Powerwise I can't really say, my motor has heavy mods and is much stronger than a stocker. It is very similar to my WB megalloy in power but louder.

What engine mods are you running on your 500??

It's really a 641. XR600 bottom end, XL600 top end, 101mm JE, WB#1600 cam, Kibblewhite springs/titanium retainers, mild porting, modded 49 state XL carbs, WB SS header and the XRs Comp pipe/Supertrapp. It's in a stock appearing 83 XR500 roller.

I noticed a very healthy increased with the XRs Only silencer through out the rpm range with the biggest gains being in the low and low-mid rpm range. It is pretty darn loud without the "quiet" insert (I would guess 100 decibels), and throaty with it (96 decibels guesstimated). I had already rejetted my stock Keihin to 158 main/55 pilot/.025 shim on needle (for 4,000 feet elevation) and this worked fine without rejetting for the XRs Only silencer. The stock 650L is waaaaaay lean and needs to be rejetted even without the addition of a free flowing silencer (look for Dave's mods for the Keihin CV carb). The addition of a free flowing silencer without rejetting would make it even leaner, which is not good. I purchased the mate XRs Only header at a later time and like it as well. It adds a noticeable amount of mid rpm and above power with a little bit less low end power. I use the stock header for riding tight trails where I need absolute max low-end power and the XRs Only header for more open riding. It is very important to replace the muffler/header gasket and the two gaskets where the header connects to the head when making any kind of change. Having a poor seal at either junction can really affect your low end power in a negative way (and also lean out your jetting).

The XRs Only silencer and header are quality made. Hope this helps you.

Yes!

I first put the exhaust on my 03' XR400R along with a carb needle kit. Really livened it up, but if you want the most out of the system purchase the header as well. This took out all hesitation when in tight sections, second gear and then punching it. No more sputter. Pulls much longer at top end as well. This is the only real modification I have done and I have towed all new KTM's and Yamaha's out of many places. XR's ROCK!!
